Children are our most valuable and our most vulnerable resource…they are the future of our world. A large portion of my career has been working with children and adults who have been abused and helping them overcome the effects of these terrible acts. ChildSafe is a refuge of safety and healing for children in Bexar County…I can’t think of a more important place to focus my efforts.
In the 23 years since its inception, ChildSafe has become a remarkable organization and an important asset to children and families in Bexar County and the City of San Antonio. Remarkable because of our dedicated staff and the support and strength of our partnerships with Bexar County District Attorney’s office, San Antonio Police Department, Bexar County Sherriff’s Department, Child Protective Services, Bexar County Community Services, and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital.
As we work inside our walls to continually improve and expand our services, we are also working diligently to strengthen support outside of our walls. It not only takes the cooperation of our partners to do our work, it takes financial support from the business community, generous private donors, and the community at large.
Doing more with less has always been at the heart of ChildSafe’s mission as a nonprofit organization. ChildSafe faces significant budget cuts at a time of increased need. Doing more with less will be seriously tested as we strive to provide quality care to thousands of children and their supportive family members who desperately need help over the next few years.
I hope as you navigate the ChildSafe website, you’ll understand the importance of our efforts and support our work, whether you are an individual or you represent a small or large business. Together, we can fortify our families and strengthen or community.

When I learned about ChildSafe and their mission, I realized it was imperative that our community have a facility like this.
Few things in life are as unfair as child abuse. Innocent loving children are abused by mothers, fathers, other family members, or friends daily in this country. Abuse is terrible but child sexual abuse is horrific. When I learned about ChildSafe and their mission, I was amazed that we needed a facility like this here in my community. As I learned more I was so thankful that we have a children’s advocacy center in Bexar County and 64 other centers across Texas. I wish we didn’t need them but we can’t bury our heads in the sand with this issue. We must step forward and address it so that we give strength and courage to the victims of this terrible crime.
ChildSafe is an incredible place of healing and one of the bright spots during a very dark period for victims. We work with families to move beyond the abuse and come back together. We don’t want the abuse to define that child, rather help them to work through the abuse and emerge a happy healthy child again. We specialize in giving children their childhood back.

Come visit our campus and learn about the amazing therapy programs, specialized medical treatment, and our CARE program that helps support our families during this time. We are a happy place where children learn to be children again.
