Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways you can help sustain the mission of ChildSafe by getting involved with this organization.
Family Partners welcome children and families to ChildSafe, making them feel comfortable and at ease. Greeters answer any questions the family may have, and engage the children in activities, such as: playing board games, coloring, reading, and watching videos. Greeters need to be at least 18 years of age and be available to volunteer between the hours of 8 & 5, Monday-Friday.
Group Family Partners provide children with activities, such as coloring, arts and crafts, reading and helping with homework while parents/caregivers attend group counseling sessions at ChildSafe. Volunteers are asked to make an 8 week commitment and be available to volunteer from 5 - 7pm on weekday evenings.( Usually Tuesday or Wednesday)
Fone/E Friends offer caring, non-judgmental support to adult caregivers of children who have been sexually abused. Weekly contact is made with caregiver via phone or email. Fone Friends offer emotional support by acting as a liaison between ChildSafe and the caregiver. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
Service Learning Students/Interns from local colleges and universities who need to obtain volunteer service hours prior to graduation or for a specific course are introduced to the many facets of the multidisciplinary team. Students actively develop their learning experience based upon their individual interests as well as the Center’s needs.
Ambassadors represent the agency in the community by giving basic and brief presentations to local businesses and organizations. Volunteers will receive specific training on the agency and its services, along with general information on child sexual abuse. Ambassadors should also be available for community/health fairs, agency tours, and/or conference exhibits. Click here for more detailed information.
Garden Angels maintain our Therapy Garden and Center grounds. Duties include: watering garden, pruning plants, and maintaining shrubs and trees around the property.
Special Events help in the planning and implementation of special events to benefit ChildSafe. Special committees are formed throughout the year to carry out the tasks of putting on our special events. Commitments can extend from 2-3 months to 1 year depending on the event.
