Volunteer Testimonials
Volunteers make a difference in many areas of the work at ChildSafe. All contribute to the mission of restoring dignity, hope, and trust to children traumatized by sexual abuse.
Liz Swize, one of our garden angels, tends to ChildSafe’s oasis of tranquility every week of the year—summer and winter. She recruits her husband Emil, friend Aynus, and even ChildSafe staff to ensure the garden gets the care it needs. She brushes aside thanks, saying, “I’m glad it makes a difference to children and staff.”
Erik Aagaard and Kristin Graham both work on the committee that organizes Art from the Heart. Both have families, kids, and very busy lives, yet each year they spearhead the Art from the Heart effort that engages teachers and students to produce what has come to be known as “kids creating for kids.” Erik says, “I can't imagine anything more worthy of support than ChildSafe and the work they do. It breaks my heart to know that ChildSafe is needed in our community, but it warms my heart to know they are there. I am proud to be a small part of that mission.”
Josie Paul first got to know us as a volunteer and a ChildSafe intern as she worked on her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Compassion shines in her eyes as she speaks of the clients she has had the opportunity to serve. “They are such amazing children—creative, bright, fun, precious. The therapy they receive at ChildSafe will change their lives and that of their families. It was a pleasure to donate 15 hours per week to children as part of my internship.”
