Medical Training for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) and Physicians
ChildSafe offers medical training through funds from the Children’s Justice Act Grant. Renewed annually over the past 9 years, the grant allows Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, as well as Pediatric Residents from Wilford Hall MC, UTHSCSA and other medical communities to rotate through ChildSafe as part of their clinical training. Medical and nursing professionals from all over Texas and other states can spend 1-5 days (M-F only) with us for clinical training, didactic training, and case reviews.About the Medical Examination
The ChildSafe Medical Team assesses suspected victims of child sexual abuse (up to age 18). Medical examinations are primarily non-invasive and may involve a visual exam with specialized equipment, and sometimes testing for sexually transmitted diseases. Internal or speculum examinations are not performed and examinations are done with consideration to the child’s comfort, privacy, and ability to cooperate. To Schedule Training
