Client ServicesCounselingCrisis and on-going counseling may be provided to the child and to all non-offending family members who need help to resolve the trauma.MedicalSpecially trained medical and nursing professionals who are recognized experts in child abuse take a history from the child and conduct a physical exam.Multidisciplinary TeamRepresentatives from each of the agencies that are involved in the investigative and therapeutic process of child abuse meet regularly for case staffings. This multidisciplinary management allows for a check and balance system for the professionals.EducationAgency staff are involved in on going community education about child abuse. Presentations are provided on how to report possible child sexual abuse, the magnitude of the problem and the services provided by the agency.Research/TrainingOn going research/training helps identify the specific problems and needs of sexually abused victims as well as ways to prevent abuse in our community.Support GroupsGroup therapy is designed to reduce feelings of isolation and provide support as participants deal with the trauma.ConsultationConsultative services for child abuse cases are provided at local hospitals and through a statewide telemedicine network.Court OrientationThis is a program to promote confidence and lessen apprehension for children who will be testifying in trials concerning prosecution of the alleged offender.The Child Abuse Resource Enhancement (CARE) ProgramThe goal of the CARE Program is to reduce the likelihood of future substance abuse, adolescent pregnancy, and other high-risk behaviors for sexually abused children and adolescents up to the age of 18. The child and their families will receive a variety of services such as mentors, peer activities, individual and family counseling.Volunteer ProgramVolunteers serve as family greeters to support children and families during center visits and are involved in agency projects. They also serve as Fone Friends to families. |
