Current Opening for Care Coordination Data and Intake Specialist

Mission: Established in 1992, ChildSafe is a nonprofit organization created to combat child sexual abuse in our community. Serving as Bexar County’s only Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), we provide a continuum of care – including crisis management, case management, counseling, and victim services – to child abuse survivors and their non-offending family members.  In 2012, ChildSafe expanded its services to reach all child victims of abuse and neglect.

The goals of the agency and its multidisciplinary partners include the following: a recorded forensic interview; ensure the coordination of appropriate and thorough investigation and prosecution of sexual and physical abuse and neglect cases with public and private agencies; provide crisis intervention and on-going counseling; provide public education and professional training; and advocate for the child and family during the investigative process.

Essential Job Function:  Under the supervision of the Director of Care Coordination, the Care Coordination Data and Intake Specialist is responsible for the 24/7 365 intake rotation of the Bexar County Care Coordination Team (BCCCT) for minor victims of human trafficking and/or exploitation. This role completes all intakes or calls of concern to the Bexar County Human Trafficking Hotline during business hours and participates in an after hour and weekend rotation. Will be a super user for ChildSafe’s internal database for case trafficking purposes. Will assist in building collaborative partnerships in the community with the Director of Care Coordination. Will be responsible for the current and future needs of the electronic platform ‘users’, data reporting, learning all stakeholder and department funding requirement, and how to maximize the user’s participation. The position will ensure receipt of data for community partners. Success in this role requires the ability to handle confidential information and ensure clear and effective communication with BCCCT partners.

Responsible for carrying the objectives of all and agency projects forward through the comprehensive and coordinated observation, assessment and incorporation of workflows and process through observation, and data assessment and collection of project participants and users.

The role will be responsible for working in tandem with the MDT Facilitator & Partner Relations staff in creating a training development plan complete with materials, tutorials, instruction and learning resources such as online manuals.  The ideal candidate will be organized and adaptable with a strong degree of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Skills Needed: Success in this position requires attention to detail, organization, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Must be comfortable using a computer and entering data; have excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to communicate in crisis driven situations.  Ability to organize and lead meetings in the absence of the Director of Care Coordination. Ability to engage and build rapport with clients and stakeholders.  Experience in social services fieldwork-engaging clients in services. Must be comfortable speaking in front of groups to conduct trainings as needed and networking to make collaborative partners.

Experience/Education Required:

  1. Possesses a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or a related field. Four years of similar work experience may be substituted for a degree.
  2. Possess a minimum of 2 years working with child victims of abuse or neglect.
  3. Previous work with CSEY and human trafficking victims is preferred.
  4. Advanced training in crisis management preferred.
  5. Experience with diverse cultures, languages, and situations.
  6. Experience with public speaking and presentations.
  7. Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
  8. Excellent telephone skills and computer skills.
  9. Possess proficient computer skills. Proficient knowledge of excel and previous database management preferred.
  10. Bilingual (Spanish/English) abilities highly desirable.
  11. Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, auto liability insurance and possess a current Texas Driver’s License.
  12. Ability to pass a criminal background check and CPS registry check.

Responsibilities:

  1. Receive calls from Bexar County Care Coordination Team (BCCCT) partners on the Bexar County Human Trafficking hotline during business hours and manage the afterhours/weekend rotation.
  2. Enter data information on department spreadsheets or other documentation developed in procedures such as agency database.
  3. Intake youth into the program by entering demographic information about identified and recovered minors into the database to initiate real time tracking of services offered and investigative steps.
  4. Assess whether the identification or recovery of the minor meet’s protocols agreed to by the Bexar County Care Coordination Team to launch coordinated services.
  5. Conduct the Commercial Sexual Exploitation- Identification Tool (CSE-IT) when applicable.
  6. Enter ChildSafe CSE-IT data into all applicable platforms.
  7. Contact Stop Task Force on all adult human trafficking calls.
  8. Dispatch CSEY Advocate to the scene, as determined by the working BCCCT protocols.
  9. Contact appropriate law enforcement and CPS investigators to facilitate initiation of joint investigation.
  10. Ensure reports/records generated from database or through existing Statewide Intake reports are retained, protected, and destroyed to ensure confidentiality.
  11. Develop and produce data reports for grant reporting and program evaluation purposes.
  12. Pull data and create visual charts and graphs for the Director of Care Coordination as needed and requested for meetings with elected officials, stakeholders, and media.
  13. Serve as a backup Care Coordinator if a care coordinator is on leave or unavailable.
  14. Other department and agency duties as assigned

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • General office environment and be able to remain in a stationary position.
  • Must be able to work rotating on call schedule.
  • On call required per schedule.
  • Needs to move about the office to access cabinets, files, office machinery including computers, copiers and printers
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (EG: copiers and printers)
  • Will frequently ascend/descend ladder to retrieve client files
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Work during nights/weekends/holidays and non-traditional work hours.
  • Must be organized and able to perform required tasks while working from the field or out of office.

Hours/Shifts:

Full-time position working 40 hours.

May need to work after hours in response to crisis situations.
