Current Opening for Director of Client Services

Status: Full-time Exempt
Reports to: Chief Program Officer

Mission: Established in 1992, ChildSafe is a nonprofit organization created to combat child sexual abuse in our community. Serving as Bexar County’s only Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), we provide a continuum of care – including crisis management, case management, counseling and victim services – to child abuse survivors and their non-offending family members.  In 2012, ChildSafe expanded its services to reach all child victims of abuse and neglect.

The goals of the agency and its multidisciplinary partners include the following: a recorded forensic interview; ensure the coordination of appropriate and thorough investigation and prosecution of sexual and physical abuse and neglect cases with public and private agencies; provide crisis intervention and on-going counseling; provide public education and professional training; and advocate for the child and family during the investigative process.

Basic Functions:  The position will have program management, supervision, and leadership responsibilities in the Client Services department.  This individual will be involved in professional development and training of staff as well has having case management duties as needed. Provides information to community partner agencies regarding program services to build effective relationships. Works with and provides consultation to all members of the multidisciplinary team.  Participates in multidisciplinary case staffing and makes referrals to, and consults with, outside agencies as necessary. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of and submitting reports to program funding sources.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Is responsible for the leadership of a dynamic and committed team of Family Support Specialists and Family Engagement staff.
  • Will manage staff performance and conduct through evaluations and corrective actions.
  • Provides guidance on day to day case management of ChildSafe clients.
  • Submit reports for VOCA, QSR and agency-wide monthly statistics.
  • Monitor program budget and approve emergency assistance requests.
  • Is expected to support the hiring, training, and education of client services team members.
  • Develops best practice case management techniques and creates collaborative relationships across agency departments.
  • Will provide supervision of staff’s caseloads and ensure QA compliance in client database.
  • Will seek opportunities for program funding.
  • Responsible for program compliance of department and agency-wide policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains records, reports, and statistics related to Client Services clients and program performance.
  • Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals, Child Protective Services workers, law enforcement personnel, and members of the judicial system.
  • Completes documentation within 48 business hours of service.

Education/Skills/Training Requirements:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited college required in relevant field. Graduate degree preferred. Undergraduate degree considered in conjunction with previous experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the field is required with two years previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates currently trained in a trauma-informed care or willing to be trained within the first year of employment.
  • Must be willing to participate in on-going services training with the CAC of Texas and travel to Austin for these trainings.
  • Able to manage potentially explosive situations.
  • Interacts with other professionals and co-workers in a spirit of cooperation and mutual commitment to the mission and vison of the agency.
  • Driver license, liability insurance and reliable transportation required.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • General office environment.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Needs to move about the office to access cabinets, files, office machinery including computers, copiers and printers.
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (EG: copiers and printers).
  • Will seldom ascend/descend ladder to retrieve client files.
  • Will frequently position oneself to pack emergency supplies including food and clothes for clients which are stored in and above cabinets.
  • Occasionally lifts supplies and support materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to observe client’s emotional state to assess and identify needs.
  • Must be able to communicate well with clients and supportive family members.

Hours/Shifts:

ChildSafe is open Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This position is a 40 hour/week position. May need to work after hours in response to client crisis situations.
