At ChildSafe, the Community-Based Family Advocacy (CBFA) program works to prevent future child abuse and reduce barriers to care by addressing the psychosocial needs of families. Our Community-Based Family Advocates provide education, resources, support, referrals from the community to caregivers of children who are confirmed victims of child sexual abuse.
Our Advocates are trusted members of the community who bring unique insights into the experiences, language, and culture of those they serve. By empowering caregivers to actively participate in preventing future abuse and making decisions about their family’s needs, the program fosters self-reliance and long-term stability.
Key services include:
- Case Management: Collaborating with families to assess, plan, and facilitate access to services that address social determinants of health and improve family outcomes.
- Education and Advocacy: Providing culturally appropriate health education, informal counseling, and guidance on health behaviors.
- Resource Navigation: Helping families access critical services such as housing, healthcare, and mental health support.
- Safety Planning: Developing strategies to protect children and reduce risks.
